Executive Director Linda Sibio

Established in 2001, Bezerk Productions' mission is to educate the public on the interdisciplinary art of persons with severe mental differences, provide educational art opportunities for this population and the public, and provide educational and career opportunities for this disadvantaged population. Our vision is to heal through the creative process.

Founded by Joshua Tree resident and nationally recognized artist Linda Sibio, a visual/performance artist and writer diagnosed with schizophrenia as an 18-year-old college student, Bezerk provides creative workshops for marginalized populations including mentally challenged and homeless persons. Workshops utilize exercises developed by Sibio over 25 yrs of teaching mentally challenged persons. Her professional experience includes helping to start the Los Angeles Poverty Department in 1985, and in 1990 starting her own arts group called Operation Hammer. In both groups she developed and led interdisciplinary workshops for mentally challenged homeless people. From 2001-2008, with support from the California Arts Council, Bezerk/Sibio conducted workshops and approximately 100 community events involving interdisciplinary projects and visual art exhibitions in partnership with Morongo Basin Mental Health in Yucca Valley. In addition to her community work, Sibio continues to produce and exhibit her own art, originated The Insanity Principle workshops, and has written a yet unpublished book, Reflections in a Broken Mirror. Sibio is a vocal advocate for empowering all persons to pursue a rewarding life, and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness.
